Summer is not only the season of holidays, but also the season of mosquitoes. To scare them away and avoid their bites, lemongrass essential oil is a vacationer’s best ally. This natural repellant can be obtained from different species of citronella:

Cymbopogon citratus species, commonly known as lemongrass or Indian verbena;
Cymbopogon nardus species called Ceylon citronella;
Cymbopogon winterianus species known as Javan lemongrass;
or the Cymbopogon flexuosus variety of lemongrass.
Regardless of the variety used, lemongrass essential oil is ideal for diffusing into living spaces during the summer months. A few drops in a diffuser are enough to repel mosquitos and other insects. Stop itchy bites in summer!

Geranium Bourbon Essential Oil
Geranium Bourbon essential oil (Pelargonium graveloens cv Bourbon) is also very effective in repelling mosquitoes. It is also appreciated in diffusers for its delicate floral fragrance. For the record, the essential oil of geranium is not extracted from the flowers of the plant, but from the stems and leaves.

To repel mosquitoes naturally, opt for a combination of geranium bourbon and lemongrass essential oils. Put five drops of each oil into the diffuser and let it diffuse for 10 minutes. Operation is updated hourly for optimum protection against mosquitoes.
