How to fight a sagging face?

Facial sagging, also known as skin laxity, is the result of loss of elasticity in the skin and weakness of the facial muscles. If it’s unavoidable, however, it can be slowed down with certain everyday behaviors. What can I do to maintain a toned face? Discover all our beautiful secrets.

Signs and causes of facial sagging

As we age, the skin gradually loses its elasticity, fat moves, and muscles sag. Dimples and shadows form.

Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid

The inevitable decline in hydration that comes with age contributes to a slowdown in cell turnover. In the dermis, fibroblasts (skin cells) are less efficient and less able to synthesize collagen and elastin, the two proteins that guarantee the firmness of the skin.

Collagen fibers harden (glycation phenomenon) and exacerbate wrinkles and loss of skin elasticity. Hyaluronic acid is an anti-aging activity that guarantees good hydration of the skin, but it is becoming increasingly rare. The result: thinning and sagging skin.

Age and other causes of facial sagging

There are many external causes of sagging skin besides age. This could be due to a yo-yo diet, significant weight loss or even pregnancy. Sagging caused by intense weight loss after long-term obesity leads to excess skin and can only be treated with surgery.

Age is still the main cause of sagging skin. As we age, the elastin fibers and collagen responsible for skin firmness become scarcer as the body works slower. As a result, thin faces tend to sag, while round faces sing more and may develop a chin and/or double chin. The expression is relatively fixed, and the face looks very tired.

Saggy Face: What’s the Solution?

In addition to a healthy lifestyle (eating a balanced diet, quitting smoking, drinking less or no alcohol), daily application of face cream is an important step in preventing sagging and firming the skin on the face. The skin must be stimulated with a cream rich in active ingredients that promote cell renewal.

The most effective active ingredients against sagging skin are:

Antioxidants such as vitamin C;

hyaluronic acid;

Resveratrol (a polyphenol found in abundance in grapes).

All three bring firmness, elasticity and radiance to the skin.

Aloe Vera, Cocoa, Essential Oils

On the botanical side, Aloe Vera deeply hydrates and nourishes the skin, rebalances the pH of the skin, and stimulates the proliferation of fibroblast cells in the dermis for firmer skin.

Cocoa skincare contains vitamin E and flavonoids that exert antioxidant activity to fight skin aging.

Essential oils of rose, myrtle or carrot firm the face. Rose water brightens and helps the skin.

Facial yoga

Dermal massage, also known as facial yoga, can also help stimulate skin cells and fight wrinkles. Gently massage the face regularly, patting the skin with fingertips in circular motions to stimulate blood microcirculation and oxygenate tissues.

invasive technology

The institute may employ less natural and more invasive techniques, especially through focused ultrasound equipment. The device will stimulate collagen production by heating the area to be treated. As a result, the body produces the collagen necessary for skin firmness and rejuvenation. This course of treatment is carried out in 3 sessions, with an interval of one month between each session. Collagen remains stimulated months after the treatment, and the effects last for years.

Hyaluronic acid injections are also available. It is also one of the most popular anti-aging procedures in cosmetic surgery. Hyaluronic acid injections help to fill in wrinkles, correct dark circles, restore facial volume and rejuvenate the skin. A session lasts an average of 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how many injections are to be given.
