How to choose high-quality essential oils?
Production conditions will directly affect the quality of essential oils and essences. That’s why choosing an essential oil is an important step in ensuring the efficacy of your product.
First, prioritizing artisanal rather than industrial production. The latter increases the pressure level of the distillation to reduce production time. Thus, biochemical molecules are partially destroyed. However, they guarantee the therapeutic properties of essential oils. It is this biochemical combination that ensures the skin, respiratory and antiseptic properties of Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia Terpineoliferum).
Secondly, choosing organic (essential oils from organic production) guarantees respect in most cases of production methods, without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Therefore, these compounds do not stay on your skin or lungs. However, it is important to point out that many small premium producers do not have the financial means to supply organic essential oils. These then offer premium products that are not stamped organic. Additionally, some essential oils can never be certified organic because they are collected from the wild rather than grown. Conversely, so-called “wild” plants are not necessarily of high quality (for example, some line the highway).
References to “100% natural” do not equate to certified organic production. It simply means that the essential oil has neither been diluted nor modified. On the other hand, the legislative framework for the term “natural” only requires products to contain less than 30% synthetic molecules.
References to “100% Pure”: Means the essential oil has neither been diluted nor diluted by other ingredients or other essential oils.
References to “whole” or “whole” mean that the plant has been distilled long enough to recover all of its aromatic molecules.
