The French are increasingly aware of the risks, not to mention the dangers, represented by home fragrances sold in supermarkets. The easiest way is to make your own. It’s natural and we know what’s in it.
You don’t have to be a pharmacist or a chemist to make your own home fragrance. You just need to find the right product and choose your favorite scent. Here are five recipes that are 100% natural and safe for your health.
- Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
To create this home fragrance that can also be used to purify the air in a room or to scent a pillow, all you need to do is a pre-washed, sanitized and dried 30ml spray bottle. In this bottle, pour five drops of ylang ylang essential oil, then pour ten drops of petit garrard essential oil, and finally pour twenty drops of lemon essential oil. Mix well before adding 90° alcohol to the top of the bottle. - Essential oil diffusers instead of aerosols
It is not recommended to buy spray cans. Their ingredients are harmful to health and the ozone layer. These are flammable products and also generate non-recyclable waste. To replace them, consider purchasing an essential oil diffuser. Since burning these oils is not healthy, and they lose their healing properties in the process, it is best to disperse them in the atmosphere. Be careful though, some can clean the air and airways, while others can irritate mucous membranes. Know before you jump in the water! - Orange
Candles create a magic in the room in which they glow. It’s possible to combine fun and nature with this recipe. Cut the orange in half, then dig in to remove the pulp. Most importantly, be careful not to damage the white filament in the middle. Pour the oil into the orange cup and light the white stick. That’s all. What a sweet smell! - Let’s try the scent stick
Commercial scent sticks are usually made from chemicals, synthetic fragrances, etc. So many products you should no longer have at home! But you can use this principle by doing it yourself. Choose your favorite essential oil (Lemon, Lemongrass, Thyme, Lavender, Peppermint, Cedarwood, Jasmine, Orange, Eucalyptus). Pour in 60ml of vegetable oil (almond or safflower), then add 3 teaspoons of alcohol and a touch of essential oil. Respect the ratio of 30% essential oils to 70% vegetable oils. Soak a reed diffuser (or a string, but less effective) for two or three hours, then turn it over. Gradually add a little essential oil to compensate for evaporation. - Use Baking Soda
Bicarbonate is used in almost everything! It is a great ally in natural home hygiene. Therefore, it is also popular in DIY (do-it-yourself) fragrances. Get a jar (or a jar of jam) with a lid. Punch a few holes in the cover with a nail and hammer. Fill the jar a quarter full with baking soda, then pour a few drops of your essential oil of choice on top. Put the lid on, give it a little shake, and it’s done!
