In the morning, when your eyes are still swollen or you’ve been touching your pillow: Play the cold card. Wash face with cool water or hot spray. The advantage of drinking cold water in the morning is that it will not damage the skin like hot water.
If your eyelids are swollen, put an ice cube in a tissue and gently slide it over each lid for a few minutes. Then protect your skin with a day cream suitable for your skin type, which may contain sunscreen if the weather is nice.
At night, your skin has accumulated impurities, dust, sebum, etc… This is also the time to remove makeup. Use a cleanser or makeup remover and night cream that is appropriate for your skin type.
don’t attack your skin
The skin acts as a barrier provided by a thin stratum corneum and a hydrolipidic film on its surface. You must avoid breaking this skin barrier: don’t overwash your face (no more than twice a day), and always use products that are right for your skin type. Avoid hot water, pat your skin instead of toweling it off, and finally, do not exfoliate more than once a week.
Oily skin becomes thicker and shiny when exposed to heat, with enlarged pores and prone to acne (blackheads, red bumps, etc…). This type of skin needs care for oily skin, such as cleansers for oily skin or creams for skin with non-comedogenic blemishes. Avoid touching your pimples as this often leads to complications: long-term presence of pimples, scars, pigmented spots, etc.
Dry skin flakes and feel tight whenever it is attacked (cold, swimming pool, etc…). Do not wash more than once a day, but wash with a cleanser for dry skin in cool water and moisturize it with a rich cream.
Combination skin is usually oily in the center of the face and dry around the edges. It entails caring for oily skin in seborrheic areas, known as the T-zone (chin, nose, forehead), and dry skin in drier areas, that is to say the rest of the face. Combination skin, however, must be cleaned like dry skin, which means using gentle cleansers.
Sensitive skin is skin that feels tight, tingly, prickly, warm and often reddens. It is a type of skin that is reactive and intolerant to many stimuli in the environment, such as heat, sunlight or certain cosmetics. Sensitive skin only needs special care for sensitive skin.
Avoid lack of sleep, alcohol and tobacco, and eat foods rich in vitamins and antioxidants. Prefer a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, prefer fish to meat, prefer olive oil to butter or cream fraiche… and most importantly, avoid pastries and sweets!
Protect yourself from the sun:
The sun is the worst enemy of the skin: it accelerates aging, i.e. The skin loses its elasticity and wrinkles, and leads to blotchy and reddened skin, especially on the face, where it is often exposed.
Avoid sun exposure and choose shade, especially in summer between 11am and 4pm and wear sunglasses, hats and covering clothing. Finally, apply sunscreen with a high index in summer, and sunscreen with a moderate index in winter when it is sunny.
